DESCRIPTION/DESCRIPCIÓN
This blog
will provide 8th grade students with tools to practice the simple past tense in
such a way that they can write their own story. The videos, websites
recommended and the activities will help them strengthen
the vocabulary and grammar, so they are able to express ideas about past events
in their lives.
Este blog dará a los estudiantes del grado octavo las
herramientas para practicar el pasado simple en inglés de tal forma que puedan
escribir su propia historia de vida. Los videos, las páginas recomendadas y las
actividades los ayudarán a fortalecer el vocabulario y
la gramática, para que así puedan expresar ideas sobre eventos que les hayan
sucedido en el pasado.

TIMELINE/LÍNEA DE TIEMPO
This
timeline shows a sequence of events in the ordered they “happened” to somebody.
They follow an order in time and use the simple past tense. On it, students can see how an autobiography helps us take a look back in our lives and using the English language, as well.
Esta línea de tiempo muestra una secuencia de eventos en el
orden que “ocurrieron” a alguien. Ellos siguen un orden en el tiempo y usan el
tiempo pasado simple. En ella los estudiantes pueden apreciar cómo una autobiografía nos ayuda a hacer una retrospectiva y a la vez usar la lengua inglesa.

Funciones del simple
past
El "simple past" se utiliza para hablar de una acción que concluyó en un tiempo anterior al actual. La duración no es
relevante. El tiempo en que se sitúa la acción puede ser el pasado reciente o
un pasado lejano.
Ejemplos
- John Cabot sailed to
America in 1498.
- My father died last
year.
- He lived in Fiji in 1976.
- We crossed the Channel
yesterday.
Siempre se utiliza el "simple past" para referirse
a cuándo ocurrió algo,
de modo que va asociado a ciertas expresiones temporales que indican:
- frecuencia: often, sometimes,
always
I sometimes walked home at lunchtime.
I often brought my lunch to school. - un
tiempo determinado: last
week, when I was a child, yesterday, six weeks ago
We saw a good film last week.
Yesterday, I arrived in Geneva.
She finished her work atseven o'clock
I went to the theatre last night - un
tiempo indeterminado: the
other day, ages ago, a long time ago People lived in caves a long
time ago.
- She played the piano when
she was a child.
Nota: el
término ago es útil para expresar distancia temporal en el
pasado. Se coloca después del
periodo de tiempo de que se trate: a week ago, three years ago, a
minute ago.
